Welding rotators (also called welding positioners or tank turning rolls) let a welder complete a circumferential weld on a cylindrical or pressure-vessel component without manually rotating the workpiece — critical for consistent weld quality on tanks, pipes, pressure vessels and large cylindrical fabrications. Tilghman Rotoblast designs and manufactures welding rotators with capacities from 1-ton through to 20-ton-plus, with options for idler rolls, self-aligning drives, VFD speed control and remote foot-pedal operation. The case studies below show two recent installations — a customer-specific rotator shipped to Mpumalanga and a paired 4-ton and 8-ton set commissioned in Durban. Welding rotators are often bundled with our blast rooms and paint booths where a tank fabricator needs the full surface-preparation-through-painting line under one supplier.
