Dust collectors

We are able to design and manufacture a range of dust extraction systems. We can provide advice on the design of the complete system including dust containment, ducting and hood design and correct sizing and type of dust collector. Our dust collectors typically provide air cleanliness of greater than 99%.  We use sophisticated German filtration materials that can be engineered for high heat or moisture applications if required. Our dust extractors use a filter system bag system with a micro-processor controlled self-cleaning pulsating action.  This ensures consistent performance. Our core range includes products with a capacity of 1 m³/s to 36 m³/s. Applications are wide and include blasting booths and machines, forging plants, powder mixing plants and a variety of plants that produce any form of dust. There are a number of different styles of dust collectors used in different applications.
Bag type dust collectors Bag type dust collectors are the most common type of dust collector that we supply.  The dust collector will consist of a large number of cylindrical filter bags that are supported by filter cages.  These provide a large filtration surface area. The filter bags are periodically cleaned by fresh air pulses from PLC controlled pulsating valves.  The pulsating air that is released creates a shock pulse on the bag which causes the dust to fall of the filter bags. The bags typically provide excellent air cleanliness of over 99%. They can also be customised for special applications including high temperatures, high moisture levels and coated with non-stick coatings if required. The design of these is robust and on-going maintenance costs are lower due to the simple filter design.

Cartridge type dust collectors

Cartidge type dust collectors operate in a similar manner to bag type dust collectors.  There are numerous cartridges inside the dust collector that provide a large surface area for filtration.

The filter bags are periodically cleaned by fresh air pulses from PLC controlled pulsating valves.  The pulsating air that is released creates a shock pulse on the bag which causes the dust to fall of the filter cartridges.

The cartridges typically provide excellent air cleanliness of over 99%.

Cartridge type dust collectors are more compact than cylindrical cage-type duct collectors as they have a greater surface area.  They can also be design to be changed from the front of the dust collector instead of the top reducing ceiling height requirements.

Cyclones

A cyclone can be used by itself in order to reduce the amount of dust expelled in a system or in conjunction with a filter type dust collector to collect larger particles before the dust collector.

In a cyclone the air enters at the top and is forced into a circular downward “cyclonic” pattern.  The heavy particles drop out of the air stream as their velocity decreases. Cleaner air leaves the cyclone from the top.

Cyclones are used in many applications but are common in the woodworking industry and in industries that generate larger “dust” particles such as recycling.
